Resolutions or Aspirations 16

Happy New Year!

We are 8 days into the New Year!  It is moving fast and furious…

Well, I wanted to check-in to see if you are on track with your resolutions. Are they working or not working so much?  Research states that most people by the 15th of the month will have abandoned their resolutions!  I read that and thought, WOW, for real???

We all  make resolutions and at the time we are committed to them. So, what happens, is it life? Is there a lack of focus and commitment?  Or do we  even know what our resolutions should be? I asked myself all of those questions and decided that I wasn’t going to make any resolutions this year.

Friends, this year, I really didn’t make any resolutions. I know that is hard for some of you to believe (those that really know me). I didn’t want to face another year of not making good on them. I wanted to do something that I would be excited about. Something that would keep me engaged the entire year and beyond.

Let me share with you what I did. I made a list of PERSONAL ASPIRATIONS.   Aspirations –  a hope or ambition of achieving something. A strong desire, longing, or aim; ambition, a goal or objective.

What I realized was that I was more connected with a strong desire, a longing, and ambition to achieve my passion, goals and dreams. So I wrote them down. I have spiritual, financial, career and personal aspirations that I work on everyday.  I pick one and work on it.  It has been so liberating for me to see them begin to come to fruition in just a short period of time.

I am committed and excited to work on all of my aspirations. Some I work on a lot harder than others :).  However, I am totally committed to seeing all of them manifest in my life. For me, I had to have agreement with God and his will for my life.  I can’t tell you how having aspirations written down instead of just resolutions really resonate within me.

I am so excited about my journey this year and wanted to share it with all of you.  I have some awesome things planned for 2018.  Nurture change based on truth which inspires, renews and re-energies you with vision, potential and opportunities = Your True Reflection!  I would love to work with you this year to help you unlock your true aspirations!

Love it! I recently wrote about living by a theme instead of resolutions. They’re so limiting, and when we don’t stick to them we stay with the same mindset the rest of the year. It’s counterproductive. I hope your spirarioms become a reality throughout the year!

You are so right, resolutions they really don’t tie into anything real. They seem only superficial. Thank you for your comments.

I believe when we can’t keep our resoulutions, we are stuck all year long. As you stated, with a mindset that is counterproductive. I hope my post has insipired someone to take a different approach. Thanks for your comments.

I’m liking the idea of aspirations over resolutions. I’m not fixing old stuff, I’m reaching toward new goals!

Jennifer this is PHENOMENAL!! I was just talking to a friend of mine about 30 minutes ago about aspirations, goals and vision. I wrote vision statements for the last 2 years and it had been wonderful to see the progress! Habakkuk 2:2-3 is what keeps me focused. Aspirations for me!

This is real talk. I was just thinking yesterday, I would give up on one of my goals for myself–too inconvenient. Then I thought let me break down my (seemingly) large goal into monthly, weekly, and most importantly, smaller daily “bites”. The smaller steps do not overwhelm me and it excites me to know I am actually moving in the direction of my goal this year while enjoying the journey!

Your comments really resonate with me. I am excited and happy to hear that you are moving in the direction of your goal and enjoying the journey along the way. That’s what it’s all about. Enjoying our journey whether we are in the valley or on the mountaintop. We have to embrace where we are. I am excited for you. Let me know if I can help you along the way.
